It is well accepted that embryo transfers performed at the blastocyst stage yield better pregnancy rates than those performed on day 3 of embryo development.
At Aria, we aim to perform all embryo transfers at the blastocyst stage on day 5. Overall, in 2021, 95.7% of our patients had an embryo transfer on Day 5. All (100%) of our patients embarking frozen transfers had an embryo at the blastocyst stage.
The greatest risk to babies born as a result of fertility treatment is prematurity associated with multiple pregnancy. At Aria patients receive individualised advice about the recommended number of embryos to transfer based on the quality of their embryos, risk of multiple pregnancy and their personal wishes. Our current multiple pregnancy rate is 3.7%.
Success rates can be presented in different ways, so it is important to understand what each measure refers to for direct comparison:
- Biochemical pregnancy/Positive pregnancy test: percentage of pregnancies confirmed through a urine test, which can be further confirmed via a b-HCG test. This hormone is key and high values represent an ongoing pregnancy.
- Clinical pregnancy: percentage of pregnancies confirmed after a ultrasound, where the heartbeat can be observed.
- Live birth: percentage of pregnancies resulting in a live birth.
The HFEA makes available the results of every licensed clinic in the UK. As a new clinic Aria does not have HFEA verified results however you can find national data collected by the HFEA.
